Finding Grace ~ The Power of Perspective

Do you believe in the power of perspective?

Do you believe in the power of the mind to create pure bliss or wreak complete havoc in the manifestation of the moments of your Life?

Do you believe in the incredible power of All That Is?

Do you believe that you are directly connected to this incredible power?

"Mana eva manusyanam ~ As the mind, so the person."

- The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

When I look back in reflection and contemplate the contrast between different times of hardship in my life, I see only one difference.

The difference is not in the severity of the challenge, nor it is in the victory of the outcome.

The difference lies in one factor only ~ the perspective of the challenge.

Now, this perspective is not one to cultivate only in times of difficulty. What would it look like if we were able to live each day in this place of inspired perspective?

Practice. It takes practice. And that is why no matter if someone has been a Yogi for many years or just beginning; whether a meditator is seasoned or just testing the waters, it remains a "practice" and is always referred to as such. No matter the practitioner.

It is the devotion of this practice that opens the gates to finding

grace in the shift of perspective. One that cultivates the connection to the entirety of the Universe where you no longer question your part in the light that shines in the world. You become it.

"So Hum ~ I Am That"

- Ancient Sanskrit Proverb

When learning from the Horse Teachers, I observe their "moment to moment" mind-body-soul existence. There is no question about their part in the harmonic symphony of Nature. They just ARE. It just IS.

Humans have to practice. And that is OK. We are surrounded by Nature and its profound wisdom will, when we attentively listen, guide our practice and, ultimately, lead us to finding our grace.

As we enter this place of realization, we quickly encounter our deep interconnection and our ability to choose our melody in the Divine orchestra.

We realize that we are not separate. We are one and the same. Perfectly woven within the quilt of the Cosmos. Woven amongst the beauty, amongst the darkness, amongst it All.

So what has changed from feelings of fear and isolation to a feeling of gratitude and purpose?

Simply put: PERSPECTIVE.

The more we attach to thoughts of fear and limitation, the more we create our own suffering.

If we can flow through our thoughts and emotions with a sense of gratitude and fluidity, we create our own joy and bliss in the passing moments.

We are no longer drowning in our thoughts. Rather, we swim in the peaceful waters of our total Being, as One with All That Is.

Exercise: Take a moment to put your hands in front of your Heart. Palms together and deeply inhale. As you inhale, envision the warmth of a yellow light entering your body and enveloping your entire Being.

As you slowly exhale, release all that no longer serves you and envision it transforming into more yellow light as it returns to the Universe as something beautiful. Say the words "I am gratitude."

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into turns problems into gifts, failures into successes, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow."

- Melodie Beattie

Every single day, believe in the beauty of your Life. Your time here, no matter how long, is still short. As a Being of light, move through each day in service to this human experience. Know that we are all connected. You are never alone.

"We might refine the Golden Rule as follows: Do good unto others, because they are you."

- Larry Dossey M.D.

A perfect example of how meditation helps us to reach this place of shifting awareness and personal transformation begins as soon as we sit on our meditation cushion. Let's examine these two scenarios.

Scenario 1: The mind begins to wander and attempt to take us away from the experience. We clench and struggle to make it through until the sound of the Tingsha relieves us of the grueling practice.

Scenario 2: The mind is busy but with each thought, we become the witness, allowing the thoughts to pass by as if they were the train and we remain at the station, merely watching the train pass us by. The mind becomes still. No attachment. No suffering. We sit and smile in gratitude for this very moment of being present in our mind and body.

What is the difference? Same meditation. Same space. Same day. Same time.

The only difference is perspective. Once again.

Living each day in Nature and honoring the Horse as Teacher has guided my own personal practice of living in the moment from a place of pure gratitude. When we find ourselves in a place of overwhelm or attachment, as the Reiki principles simplify, it is just for today:

Just for today, I will not anger

Just for today, I will not worry

Just for today, I will be grateful

Just for today, I will do my work honestly

Just for today, I will be kind to every living Being

These healing practices have been around for thousands and thousands of years, encompassing the wisdom of ancient masters, seers and sages.

The Horses reflect to us our own connection to All That Is Divine. They need not make effort. It is who they are. And, in saying this, it is who we are. For we are all One. Our attachment to the fears of the mind take us away from the Divine Love that weaves us all together as One. What will you consciously choose?
